What is a A Ruck?
A Ruck is a hiking celebration. It could be a celebration of the start of the new hiking
season, a celebration of starting the Appalachian Trail, it could be anything. They are
celebrated all across the country like the PA Ruck celebrating the mid-way point of
hiking the Appalachian Trail or the Southern Ruck (a hiker festival in the Carolinas).
What is AlaRuck?
AlaRuck is a family friendly celebration of the new hiking season and a chance
for the hiking community and outdoor enthusiasts to come together for a
fun-filled weekend at a good old fashioned campout.
What Will We Do There?
* Camping under the stars at the beautiful Open Pond Rec Area
* Hikes: Several hikes will be taken to cypress ponds, blue springs, and fresh
water ponds
* Dutch Oven Cooking Demo
* Camp Decorating Contest
* Pot Luck Supper Saturday night
* Fellowship Around the Campfire: Catch up with old friends and meet new
Who is Invited?
EVERYONE! Whether you're a hiker, camper, or outdoor enthusiast of any kind,
you're invited.
How Much is Admission?
FREE!!! We do ask two things of you: You have to register to attend and
bring something to the Pot Luck Supper Saturday night if you can. Register
online here.
CAMPING FEE:
There is a fee to camp at Open Pond - Primitive sites: $6,
improved with water and electricity $12. Pay at the self-pay kiosk
at the entrance to Open Pond.
What Do I Bring?
Bring whatever you bring for tent camping including lunch, snacks, and
breakfast. Camping is NOT limited to tent camping. You can bring your
